Teaching America

<div>Teaching America honors the high school students and teachers who join forces to stand up for</div><div>African-American studies, after the state of Arkansas threatens to shut their classes down. The in-</div><div>classroom testimony of a movement sparked by the unflinching desire to learn that crosses</div><div>boundaries and generations – in a time of intentional efforts to segregate and divide and to forcibly</div><div>erase America’s history, culture, and humanity.</div><div>The film provides a lens and a point of intervention into the larger attacks on education and learning</div><div>as a core chapter in the authoritarian playbook. There is a clear throughline between the efforts to</div><div>limit and erase the teaching of history; the banning of books, curriculum and classes; the intentional</div><div>push to segregate and divide; and the limitations being placed on free and open inquiry, expression,</div><div>and teaching in K-12 and higher education.</div>PT21MNR2026-08-31Teaching America"Teaching America"
